Since its inception in 2010, the Arthur 赞克尔音乐中心 has been dedicated to cultivating artistic excellence and enriching cultural experiences for students, artists, audiences, and community partners. Home to 火博体育大学's acclaimed Music department, the Center offers a robust schedule of programming throughout the academic year, and hosts prestigious summer programs such as the Skidmore Jazz Institute, now celebrating its 37th year. 我们的 state-of-the-art facilities include the Helen Filene Ladd Concert Hall, which accommodates 600 attendees, and the intimate Elisabeth Luce Moore Hall, with 86 seats.
Named in honor of Arthur Zankel, a devoted Skidmore trustee and visionary philanthropist, the Center is a testament to his legacy of support and commitment to the arts. 我们的 mission is to provide a vibrant and inclusive space for musical exploration and performance, fostering a diverse range of artistic expressions that honor the rich traditions of early music while reflecting the dynamic landscape of contemporary music.
Make Jazz Trill Again: Trill 101
The Arthur 赞克尔音乐中心 has commissioned Brooklyn-based singer, multi-instrumentalist,
和生产者 梅勒妮查尔斯 to create "Trill 101" as part of her ongoing Make Jazz Trill Again 项目. The week-long residency, running from September 30 to October 4, 2024, will
bring together SKidmore and Capital Region community members in a multidisciplinary
exploration of jazz, its roots, and its future.
Experience a wide range of musical performances, from Sun Dogs’ sci-fi jazz to the intricate melodies of the Ottoman world, Indian classical ragas and dance, and a unique blend of strings and early analog synthesizers. We’re also introducing two new series – 环绕, where intimate solo concerts bring the audience onstage with the artist, and 维持, a collection of documentary films that offer profound insights into the lives and legacies of influential musicians.
